i had asked my parents for any little jobs i could do around the house to earn some extra spending money during my time at home. finally today, three days before i leave, my mom comes up with something. read a book, get $20. not exactly the household chore i was expecting. is she really that desperate to get me to read this book that will "shift my worldview, give me a different perspective, blah blah blah..." i know my mom and i disagree on a lot of cultural situations and norms, but conning me into reading a book? i think i got most weirded out when she admitted to using my desire for money to manipulate me into this. ummm...ok?
the book will get read and i will get the $20...but i'm still uncomfortable with this whole situation.

(for those wondering, the book is The New Tolerance by Josh McDowell and Bob Hostetler)

  1. Ummm... yeah, that is kind of weird. But remember, this is the same woman who wouldn't let you go to Europe with me (and it makes me sad forever)so I have decided her judgment cannot be trusted. :)

    LOVE YOU. See you soon.
